Heap Won’t Play In Baltimore Return

Turns out there won’t be any Heeeeeap chants after all at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday.

The longtime Raven and current Arizona Cardinals tight end will not play in his first trip back to Baltimore.

Heap (hamstring) will miss his third straight game. He’ll be replaced by Jeff King.

The Cardinals will have the services of running back Beanie Wells, however. That’s a big addition for Arizona considering Wells is averaging 4.6 yards per carry this year and has six touchdowns.

The 6-for-2, 229-pound bruiser suffered a knee injury last week against Pittsburgh that was originally feared to be season-ending. It turned out to only be a knee sprain.

The Ravens’ defense is coming off a game in which it allowed 100 rushing yards for the first time this season. The stocky Maurice Jones-Drew ran 30 times.

Baltimore’s inactives are fairly predictable.

The Ravens’ secondary will be boosted by the return of cornerback Chris Carr (hamstring) and safety Tom Zbikowski (concussion). It will be interesting to see how each is worked into the rotation with the unit playing so well, but neither will likely crack the starting lineup.

That means defensive back Danny Gorrer, who was questionable with a thigh injury, and rookie cornerback Chykie Brown are inactive.

Wide receiver Lee Evans (ankle), guard Ben Grubbs (toe), running back Anthony Allen (thigh) and inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (thigh) were all ruled out before the game.

Outside linebacker Sergio Kindle remains a healthy scratch. Kindle has been active for one game when all of Baltimore’s inactives were injured.

Starting outside linebacker Joey Porter (knee) and starting free safety Kerry Rhodes are also out for Arizona. Porter will be replaced by rookie Sam Acho. Rhodes is replaced by Rashad Johnson.
